Dogs
So two kids down, now the dogs. We have two dogs - a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Keegan and a Rescued Retired Racing Greyhound named Grace. I’m NOT changing their names to protect them.
Keegan is our 5 year old PWC. We had another Corgi before Keegan who we lost to cancer in 2003. We love this particular breed of dog. He is a great watchdog, always barks at the door, even if it’s me coming in!
My spouse (still to be introduced) from the moment he walked in the door acclimatized him to having kids poking, prodding and putting their hands in his mouth and food. She did this so he wouldn’t bite any of the kids my spouse does day care for. It has worked tremendously! You can do anything to this dog and he will take it without thinking about retaliating or biting you. My spouse did a great job of training him. Ion the other hand spoil the wee bugger and am probably responsible for his being overweight.
Grace is our 6 year old Rescued Retired Racing Greyhound. She is also our second Greyhound; we lost our first
one to cancer in 2006 just before I started working at Creative Post.
We got Grace through GRA Canada in Tillsonburg, the same place where we got our first Grey, Georgia. Yes, we did notice our Grey’s names have both started with a “G” - total coincidence!
Grace has been a shy girl for most of her time with us. Recently though she has been coming out of her shell more and more. She is a bit of a goofy grey. I have numerous videos I have shot of her and posted to YouTube. In future posts I’ll re-post them here.
For anyone who is looking for a wonderful family pet I strongly recommend adopting a Rescued Retired Racing Greyhound. I’ll put the link to GRA up on the blog roll.
